Films drawn live in your browser by WebGPU programs: light on water, soap bubbles, frost, smoke and grass in the wind. Each page shows the request, how it is drawn and how to make your own.

Every piece

Light on waterA caustics animation drawn live: waves focus sunlight into bright moving nets on a sandy bed. The request, and how the program refracts light through the surface.
Soap bubblesSoap bubbles drawn live: colours from thin-film interference, worked out for 81 wavelengths, swirl over films that drain, thin to black and burst. The request, and how it is drawn.
Frost on the glassAn ice crystal growth animation drawn live: frost feathers grow across a window by a phase-field model of freezing, with a warm room glowing behind. The request, and how it is drawn.
Smoke in a beam of lightA volumetric light and smoke animation drawn live: a 3D fluid carries incense smoke up through a shaft of light that shadows itself. The request, and how it is drawn.
A meadow at golden hourA procedural grass animation drawn live: every blade made on the graphics card and bent by waves of wind rolling towards you in low sun. The request, and how it is drawn.
